ABOUT ME
My name is Diego Avila and I hold a Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) currently working towards accreditation, and fully uphold their Ethical Framework.
My integrative counselling model uses elements of Psychodynamic as well as Humanistic theory models in order to facilitate the work we do in the therapy room. In addition, I may also use elements from other approaches such as Attachment Theory, Transactional Analysis and Jungian symbolism and dream exploration.
During my training I volunteered at Teddington-based charity RUILS, which supports people with physical and cognitive disabilities towards independent living. Other areas I take interest in are grief, loss and bereavement, sexual identity and LGBT+ community issues.
I am also a Counselling Tutor at Richmond and Hilcroft Adult Community College (RHACC), teaching both Level 2 and Level 3 CPCAB Counselling Skills Certificates; I currently volunteer at the Terrence Higgins Trust as part of their Youth Counselling Project.
